John Court, born in 1969, has lived and worked in Tornio, Finland, since 1997 and has exhibited widely around the world.

Court is a durational performance artist and sculptor. Time is one of the most important elements in his work. He often performs for 8 hours, the length of a working day. Recently he has been interested in allowing the objects and materials he uses in his performances to determine the duration of his work. Court’s works respond to the site and often his continuous, repetitive action creates a rhythm that runs parallel to it. In all his work Court is fundamentally concerned with drawing or writing, as drawing combines line, movement, space and time.
