Helinä Hukkataival, Finland

Helinä Hukkataival (b. 1941) graduated as a visual arts teacher in 1966 and received her BA in Fine Arts in 2017.

She began exhibiting in 1969 while teaching. From 1990 she concentrated on performance art and later expanded her repertoire to include photography, video art and installations.

Hukkataival has exhibited and performed around the world and was awarded the Finnish State Prize for Visual Arts in 2004. Hukkataival’s performances are minimalist works, like ritual dances, involving the artist, her works, different layers of time, city dwellers and viewers. www.hukkataival.weebly.com
